Ideal Team Composition
Generally, it is best to field heroes of the strongest element against a particular titan – see Color Stacking.  Beyond this, as many of the following as possible:

* Buffer that increases ally damage

* Debuffer that decreases titan defenses

* Defensive hero or specifically healer that increases survivability (may not be necessary with strong Heroes or weak Titan)

Notable Heroes
There is one particular hero combination of interest when it comes to titan battles:  Wu Kong/Tarlak + Wilbur.  This is because Wu Kong and Tarlak increase tile damage of all heroes, while Wilbur reduces the defense of the titan and increases your team's defense substantially.

Other heroes of note are those that reduce enemy defenses against specific elements.  See this list for specifics.

Commonly Used Battle Items
Because of how important titans are to alliances and the acquisition of ascension materials, it is common to use numerous items in battle.  A poll done in December, 2018 declared the following to be the 5 most often used items in titan battles:

They range in difficulty from 1* up through 12*.    Since defeating a titan awards additional Titan Score, the level of the titan that is spawned fluctuates between two levels, increasing until failure, then decreasing anew until your Titan Score is increased enough to attempt the more difficult one again.

Rare titans appear every 9-15 fights and rotate through the possible elements (source).  They bring with them an increased chance for a specific ascension drop, though they are also more difficult as they will reflect their own element back at the attackers, have additional health, and do additional damage.

A data mining project collecting 4200 rewards (source) confirmed that drop rates depend on the loot tier achieved. Around tier XIV (14) drop rates roughly are as shown in table; however there is a complicated sliding scale.
5 Titan Wanted Chest
  +
Unfortunately, while it seems like the 5 Titan Wanted Chest should award excellent loot, the vast majority of the time does not.  The one thing that it does well is provide another chance at an ascension material, and potentially award an Epic Troop Token (24%).  It also awards an 11% chance at a 4* ascension material.  That said, since it requires killing 5 titans, it's basically a once-a-week reward for the titan faithful among us that proves fruitful once every 4-10 weeks, depending upon what you value. (Source)

Titan Wanted Chests
  +
  +
The Titan Wanted Missions chest is filled after five titans (on which the player has inflicted non-zero damage) are killed. Loot from titan wanted chests are often far from exceptional.  It provides an 11% chance for a 4* ascension material and 24% chance of an Epic Troop Token.  (Source)
  +
  +
That said, since it requires killing 5 titans, it's basically a once-a-week reward for alliance based players (inclusive of titan escapes) and, potentially, a twice per five days reward reward for mercs. When players, including those acting as mercenaries, leave an alliance, the players' titan wanted chests gets greyed out. These chests are given a 12 hour chest timer that differs from the timers of other chests in that remaining time cannot be skipped by the use of gems. A player's titan energy will begin recharging from the instant that the player's titan energy is reduced from 3 to 2. The player may then wait within an alliance to witness the titan's death and then, after leaving, there will be a further 12 hours of energy recharge time before the player can again add filling to their titan wanted chest.
  +
  +
If a titan wanted chest is replaced by an elemental wanted chest, even if the elemental chest is filled more quickly, a merc player may do well to wait for the end of a 4 hour titan energy recharge cycle (or be prepared to use a titan energy flask) before mercing again. Wanted chest credit for a titan kill will only be given after a player has damaged a titan.

Dragon Rooster Info
For monthly special events, see Mythic Titans.

Titans are boss-like enemies that may only be fought by Players who are in an alliance.  There are Titans of each element on many star levels, varying with the alliance's strength, specifically Titan Score.

Each Titan appears on the map for a maximum of 22 hours, with a one hour wait period before the next titan will spawn. (This ensures rotation around the day in each time zone.) Titans appear on the Map of Season 1, right of Provinces 3 to 8.

All alliance members have a chance to attack the titan. Each battle contributes to the total damage. The titan is defeated when the the alliance collectively wears down the titan's HP to 0. If the titan is not defeated within the 22 hours, it "escapes".

Titan Battles

Titan Battle

Titan battles are against one big boss wide over the middle 5 tiles, while the two outer tiles miss the titan.  With a Rare Titan (Ancient Tiger, Thunder Unicorn, Dragon Rooster, Alpha Gryphon or Queen Harpy) damage by its element will be reflected back to any heroes of that element.

Attacking a titan costs 1 Titan Energy.

Each battle has a countdown timer, typically 1m 30 s (see the Gorgon Queen battle shown). The maximum battle time depends on the titan and its difficulty level. However, once a titan spawns, all battles with that particular titan will have a the same amount of time on the timer.

Titans have a visible, marked weak point which shifts randomly every 3 turns.  Tiles sent into the weak point do additional damage, and if it is hit with three tiles (regardless of element or damage done), the titan is stunned for one turn and unable to attack. Rare titans with reflect ability, however, will not be stunned by the reflected color.

Ideal Team Composition

Generally, it is best to field heroes of the strongest element against a particular titan – see Color Stacking.  Beyond this, as many of the following as possible:

 • Buffer that increases ally damage
 • Debuffer that decreases titan defenses
 • Defensive hero or specifically healer that increases survivability (may not be necessary with strong Heroes or weak Titan)

There are also several very notable heroes in particular who embody precisely these characteristics.

There is a far more in-depth discussion about specific heroes to use for each particular color of titan over on Reddit. It's well worth the read!

Notable Heroes

There is one particular Hero combination of interest for Titan battles:  Wu Kong/Tarlak + Wilbur.  Wu Kong and Tarlak increase tile damage of all heroes, while Wilbur both reduces the defense of the titan and increases the team's defense substantially.

Other heroes of note are those that reduce enemy defenses against specific elements.  See Special Skills#Exceptionally Unique for specifics.

Commonly Used Battle Items

Because of Titans' importance to alliances and the acquisition of ascension materials, it is common to use numerous Battle ItemsA poll in 2018 found 5 most often used items in titan battles:

 1.   Antidotes (when the Titan gives ailments)
 2.   Arrow Attack
 3.   Minor Mana Potion / Mana Potion
 4.   Tornado
 5.   Axe Attack

Titan Levels

Titans range in difficulty from 1* up to 14*.  Since defeating a titan awards additional Titan Score to the alliance, the level of the titans spawned fluctuates between levels, increasing until failure, then decreasing anew, until the Titan Score is increased enough to attempt the more difficult one again.

Rare Titans appear approximately every 8-10 killed titans and rotate through the possible elements (source).  They bring an increased chance for a specific 5* ascension drop, though they are also more difficult as they will reflect their own element back at the attackers, have additional health, and do additional damage.

Titan Loot

C on a Rare 7* = Tier 8

There is a grading scale of "Performance Score", i. e. damage to the Titan, that determines the 18 loot "tiers" for alliance members:

Titan Loot Tiers (TL = Titan's level; rounding up?)
Score Damage Requirement Killed Escaped
A+ Highest Damage Dealer TL + 3 (not given)
A #2 - #5 Damage Dealers TL + 2 (TL + 2) / 2
B At least 3.3%* of Titan health TL + 1 (TL + 1) / 2
C 1% to 3.3% of Titan health TL 1
D Less than 1% of Titan health TL / 2 1

* 3.3% is close to the average damage required from members of a 30 strong alliance.

Rare titans give the same loot tier as regular titans rated one star higher.

Titans are a very valuable source of ascension materials (these may be the farmable or non-farmable variety).  Using the loot tiers above and considering the titan's level, the player is guaranteed the number materials in the table.

The five Rare Titans (Ancient Tiger, Thunder Unicorn, Dragon Rooster, Alpha Gryphon and Queen Harpy) provide a bonus chance of dropping ascension materials required by Star iconStar iconStar iconStar iconStar icon Legendary Heroes of the titan's element (the items, in the same order: Mystic Rings, Farsight Telescopes, Mysterious Tonics, Poison Darts, and Royal Tabards).

Percentages

Reward Chance
4* Ascension Mat 3% per slot
3* Ascension Mat 24% per slot
Battle Items 2 per titan
Epic Hero Token 1%
Epic Troop Token 2%
Energy Flask 10%
Trainer Hero 40%
Gems 5

A data mining project collecting 4200 rewards (source) confirmed that drop rates depend on the loot tier achieved. Around tier XIV (14) drop rates roughly are as shown in table; however there is a complicated sliding scale.

Note: The 3* Ascension Mat drop is not separated between farmable and non-farmable, thus it could be a Compass or just a Chainmail Shirt. See below for more information on Ascension Mat drop slots.

Titan Wanted Chests

The Titan Wanted Missions chest is filled after five titans (on which the player has inflicted non-zero damage) are killed. Loot from titan wanted chests are often far from exceptional.  It provides an 11% chance for a 4* ascension material and 24% chance of an Epic Troop Token.  (Source)

Titan Spawns

New alliances start against titans as low as 1 Star icon. As they continue to defeat titans, the difficulty and rarity increases. The table and graphic list all possible spawns. (Graphics by Mariamné)

After using Giant Harpoons, a defeated or even escaped titan drops Titan Parts when targets are met. They vary with the titan rarity and number of parts dropped:

 • Target 1 needs to be reached so the titan drops any parts at all.
 • Target 2 rewards 2 extra parts.
 • Target 3 rewards 5 extra parts.

This number is the total harpoons used by the alliance, and once the target is reached, every hunting member will receive parts, even if they haven't used any harpoons or don't have a lodge.

Note: Remember that only completed targets will be taken into account when titan parts are calculated for the loot. Therefore you should ask in your alliance chat if harpoons can be used when it is not clear if the next target can be reached before the titan is defeated or escapes.
