Mines produce iron. As you level up your Stronghold you gain the ability to build more mines, specifically at levels 3, 8, and 15. This means that there is a maximum of 4 mines total that one may have running at once. Once you harvest it, your iron is then stored in a base wide storage which is determined by the quantity and level of your Iron Storages.
