Hero Academy

The Hero Academy (abbreviated HA) is an advanced building that can train 1-4 star heroes (in some respects faster, cheaper or better than a Training Camp) but also Trainer Heroes, 1-3* troops, and retrain 4* troops and 5* heroes. It can be converted after reaching Stronghold final level 25 (so upgrading the HA, and related necessary storage, largely replaces it as the main building to develop in the base as the player progresses).

The Hero Academy has 10 levels, and two simultaneous actions are allowed from level 2 (similar to Alchemy Lab). The research of a new training counts as one such use, however it is not possible to combine two researches.

Hero Academy was first announced in December 2018 but added only in Version 30 in June 2020.

Upgrade Costs[]

Level Action Iron Time Research Cost Res. Time
1 Train 1 star heroes 2610k 10s 514k Food 1h
2 Train 1 star troops 2629k 1d 8h 716k Food 1d
3 Train 2 star heroes 2644k 2d 978k Food 1h
4 Train 2 star troops 2659k 2d 22h 1277k Food 1d
5 Train 3 star heroes 2671k 4d 2h 1459k Food 1d
6 Train 3 star troops 2686k 5d 13h 1923k Food 1d
7 Train trainer heroes 2700k 7d 9h 2225k Food 1d
8 Train 4 star heroes 2715k 9d 6h 2927k Food 1d
9 Retrain 4 star troops 2729k 11d 3287k Food 7d
10 Retrain 5 star heroes 2748k 12d 13h 3311k Food 14d

Note the steep growth of Food research costs: In particular, Level 10 requires fully leveled storage buildings – three Advanced Food Storages at Lvl 10 (873k capacity) and the remaining Food Storage at Lvl 20 (689k; the sum is just 3308k but there is the 10k starting storage capacity of the Stronghold). Level 9 is only 24k cheaper, meaning there can be just one AFS9 (853k).

Notes:

Level 5 trains not only 24 standard Season 1 3 Star Heroes but (since Version 44, Dec 2021) five older RARE heroes of the retired Challenge Events; apparently all with equal probability.

Similarly, Level 8 beside 22 classic 4 Star Heroes produces 8 from Challenge events.

Level 7 produces 1 to 4-star trainer heroes. The chances of each rarity from Beta at 501 tries were 52.9 % / 37.7 % / 8.8 % / 0.6 %. This indicates a yield of 35.85 xp per 1k of food consumed within a timeframe of 179 xp per hour of production. Later anecdotical data of several dozen runs suggest better chance for 4* about 5 %.

Level 10 gives Season 1 5-star heroes at 95% chance. At 5% chance, it can give any non-Classic heroes, including past HOTMs that are, at minimum, 12 months old.

The complete catalog of heroes that can obtained from HA5, HA8, and HA10 is at Hero Academy/Training.
