Starting with Season 2 and Challenge Events, heroes unique to them are grouped into families ("Classic" Season 1 heroes were retroactively made a family in Version 52, October 2022). Heroes within a family have similar look and type of abilities; the family membership is shown by a small icon on their card. When placed on a team, especially with other hero/es of the same family, they each gain a small bonus. The bonus is different for each family and increases with each additional family member.

The heroes connected to Valhalla, unlike other heroes in the game, are divided into Realms. Though their functionalities are similar, heroes assigned to certain realms will apply their realm bonuses once a condition has been reached, such as Midgard heroes applying a +5% attack when their health is low or a Svartalfheim heroes giving a poison debuff when their health is low. These effects cannot be cleansed or dispelled, only deactivating if the hero or heroes recover health or are defeated.
The aforementioned special stages will sometimes appear in which enemies have the realm bonuses.
